Why we love it
This print by Kate Lewis celebrates the joy of reading and the spaces we create around books. The bold red and multicoloured palette brings warmth to a bedroom wall, study corner or hallway, working particularly well beside a shelf or armchair where you actually settle in with a novel. Lewis drew from her years at The Art Institute of Chicago and her studio practice to create something that speaks to why certain objects and spaces matter to us.
Description
At the age of one, Kate Lewis won a painting contest at the county fair and hasn't looked back since (that award-winning painting hangs in her studio). She taught and wrote curricula about masterpieces at The Art Institute of Chicago for many years before making the move to set up a studio practice at home while raising her children. Cherished spaces and objects and all that they encompass are at the heart of her work, also exploring what spaces and objects matter to people and why.
