Dunelm has come a long way from the Leicester market stall selling ready-made curtains where it started in 1979. Now the UK's largest home furnishings retailer, it covers every room: bedlinen and duvets, made-to-measure curtains and blinds, furniture, lighting, rugs, storage, kitchen, bathroom and garden. Own-label ranges make up most of the offering, which is how the pricing stays as keen as it does. The strength is breadth and practicality rather than statement design, with plenty of well-judged neutrals and seasonal updates. The obvious first stop for the everyday pieces a home runs on.
